18th Annual Beaver Queen Pageant – Sat June 4

The 18th Annual Beaver Queen Pageant will take place on Saturday, June 4th at 4pm in the Duke Park meadow (Acadia St and Englewood Ave) in Durham!

ECWA’s largest fundraiser of the year, the pageant is the Triangle’s own special mix of folly, pageantry, and humor. Contestants take on beaver personalities and compete for the title of Beaver Queen with their fashion, talent, and personality. The theme for this year is “Camp Bushy Valley” or Summer Camp! There will be music, a kids art station, free valet bicycle parking provided by Bike Durham, food trucks, and more! Meet and vote for your favorite contestants – or bribe a judge – at www.beaverqueen.org. You are not going to want to miss this truly weird and delightful Durham experience.

It takes a beaver village to put on a beaver pageant! We need your help! If you would like to volunteer at the pageant this year, please fill out our volunteer interest form!

Peace, Love, Beaver!

Do you like to garden? Do you wish you knew how? Wish you had more help or people with whom to share your harvest?

Let’s join together to support one another’s gardening efforts!

We are forming a network of neighbors in Colonial Village, Northgate Park, and nearby areas who are interested in growing food, flowers, and herbs in their own yards while sharing labor, tools, seeds/plants, food, resources, wisdom, and joy, in community with one another.

Really Really Free Market!

We are gearing up for our first Really Really Free Market!

– Sunday, 2/13, 10am-2pm – at Northgate Park, between the tennis courts and big picnic shelter (hosted by North Durham Mutual Aid)

As we prepare, we are asking that folks start to brainstorm what they may have to offer.

The premise of a Really Really Free Market is that people will be bringing, giving, and taking because we understand that a lot of what we need, we collectively have.

Feel free to bring whatever you have, decide the day of, etc., but we are asking that if you know of a skill or resource you may be able to offer, please reach out and let us know!

Finally, please share this among your circles to get the word out to gather as much collective resources and community power as possible!

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at NorthgateResponse@gmail.com or call 919-886-4614
