National Night Out (NNO) is an annual, nationwide event that promotes community safety and crime prevention and is often held at both neighborhood and city-wide levels. Northgate Park’s NNO is scheduled in conjunction with the Durham NNO and has included Durham Police Department, Durham Fire Department, HEART, Neighborhood Improvement Services, Durham County Health Department, Durham Parks and Recreation, and Durham Mutual Aid. Highlights have been the motorcycle unit, fire truck, games, and ice cream. The purpose of the event is to meet neighbors, meet people for the various groups, and learn about community resources. NPNA volunteers coordinate the event, register it with the City, and provide treats for attendees. Check the calendar for this year’s NNO event date and time.
